    MH's Official Biography

Picture
I graduated West Point and entered the Army as a logistics officer.  I had some fun jobs during my 6 years in the military:  general’s aide-de-camp, packing and jumping my own parachutes, and singing and dancing across the US in the Army Soldier Show. I married a combat vet and after running my own financial planning office, we relocated to his Midwest homeland. I’m a mom to three lovely ladies: ages 12, 8, and 3; they make life more interesting and have taught me to slow down and experience the blessing of THIS moment.  I’ve been humbled by the demands of motherhood in comparison to the rewards of hard work in my other jobs.  Seriously why is there no badge or pay raise for potty training? Breast feeding? Actually putting the laundry away?

After a decade of diapers, I finally realized that taking care of myself will allow me to better take care of my family.  So I started a journey towards better health 18 months ago and am learning to balance my unhealthy love of Bluebell ice cream, Tex Mex, BBQ, and Lindt chocolate with a low thyroid and all my mom-job requirements.  One quote that helps me find the JOY in each day is this:  “The days are long, but the years are short!”  I’m doing my best to make each moment count!
